the architecture of memory

Over the course of several decades and prior to obtaining her first digital camera, Susan Magnus accumulated many 4x6 inch chromogenic snapshots—some were out of focus, others under or over exposed, and some were of people and places that in hindsight she could no longer remember. Magnus obscured these rejected pictures using high gloss, black paint and installed each snapshot within a matrix in the corner of the gallery to create an installation that reflects the unreliability of photography and memory.
