Social Sculpture

Social Sculpture features dresses fashioned from late-twentieth-century sewing patterns, specifically designed to accentuate the female body. They are constructed from a utilitarian, coarse fabric—grey felt—a homage to the artist Joseph Beuys. In addition to being exhibited as discrete sculptural objects in museums and galleries, these dresses have also been worn during a gala event at the Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive, creating tableaux vivants and highlighting the project's social dimension.
