LIFETIME
Collection Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive, University of California. Acquired 2002.
Lifetime is an ongoing project that comprises my lifelong subscription to National Geographic magazine. Each year, I submit 12 additional publications to the museum, expanding the length of installation for the duration of my life and marking the passage of time. Arranged in chronological order and positioned on the floor with the spines facing downward, the date and title of the publications are concealed. The steel bookend, which secures the work against the wall, positions the magazines at an angle, allowing only a partial view of the iconic yellow on the cover of the publications.
Lifetime, ongoing, National Geographic magazines, steel, 7 x 10 x depth increases with yearly installments. Collection Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive, purchase made possible by a gift from the Wallace Alexander Gerbode Foundation. Photo taken in 2003 by Sibila Savage.
