IMAGEAFTER

Imageafter is an ongoing body of work created in response to photographs, film negatives, and possessions I inherited after my mother died. Reflecting on this family archive, I see the vulnerability and deterioration of the analog snapshots as a metaphor for the unreliability of memory and the inevitability of loss; I view her belongings as a source of remembrance, yet also as insistent reminders of the transient nature of all things. Drawing inspiration from these materials, I reconfigure and transform found images and objects into photo-based projects, sculptures, and works on paper, exploring themes of impermanence and temporality.
